Car insurance query

Have checked on the DVLA website and according to them, as my Diabetes (not sure why it gets a big D) is managed by tablets I don't have to tell them - does that mean that I don't need to advise my car insurer too?

Tell them everything, as they can use it against you to get out of any claims made........

It pays to tell the insurance company and tell them what steps you take to avoid hypo. Some insist you have a medical to cover themselves, but as money is involved they will use any loop hole they can find to avoid making a pay out.

In my experience no companies have asked for any further information regarding my condition, so as long as they know they cant use the diabetes to avoid paying out, even if its not related to hypos etc......

But I would not discount some companies wanting some more information

Thanks for your input. Have now notified insurance company who advise that it'll make no difference (haha, yeah until my renewal I suspect...).

I sent a copy of the letter from the DVLA to my insurance company. I got a letter back from the insurance company saying they would not charge me any more. I kept both to be on the safe side.

That's a really good idea - though the DVLA website says that if your Diabetes is managed by diet or tablets then they don't need to know... I read it several times to check. I will double check - I don't retain much information nowadays!
