The papers are full of Captain Sir Tom today, naturally, and I giggled again when I read his words when he heard about getting a knighthood - he hoped the Queen 'wasn't heavy handed with that sword...'

I'm glad he refused to tell reporters what they talked about as it was private, and he obviously cherished their conversation.

He lived a few miles down the road from my Bedfordshire home, I would imagine there will be a huge floral tribute amassing outside it just like Diana's
