This is so annoying,

Waking BG at 0700 was 4.3 today, didn’t want to eat straight away so waited til 0800 and had 1 slice of Hovis 7 seed wholemeal (14 Carbs) Boiled egg and mushrooms. Took meds Linigliptin and Gliclazide.

I need to go out this morning, said I would be there about 0930, checked BG before driving 0910 and got 4.4 arrrggg Had another cup of tea and 2 digestives (18 Carbs) waited to 0930 tested again 4.6, waited til 0945 tested again 4.6. Why?

Pulling hair out now, had a slice of white bread and thin spread of jam,( Must be 30 carbs) tested again 1015 got 5.1 at last I can drive. I will be scared to do it at lunch in case I’m off the scale.

Never had this before, normally I go up to mid to high 5’s after that sort of Brekky.

Any Ideas, views, or advice welcome……………

Sorry Alan .i can't help. Hope it's fine at lunch time

Grr! Sounds like the gliclizide is being to pushy with your pancreas - might be worth having a word to see if your dose needs reducing. Hope you are OK at lunchtime 🙂

Thanks Northie, I just checked my average bg for the last 5 weeks it works out 5.4 Which sounds great and will be proven by my HbA1c next week. I think I will ask if I can reduce the Glic to 40mg from 80mg and see how I go. (I currently take 80mg twice a day)

Oh, Ive been there. Last week, sat in garden centre carpark. For half an hour. Imbibing glucose tablets like theyre going out of fashion. And my bg refusing to rise over 4.5. Hot chocolate from the cafe, no luck. Fruit pastilles, no luck. Took 2 hours...and followed some hours later by the resultant high. I reckon my stomach just refused to work for a few hours. No help, I know, but you are not alone!

Thanks folks, I've had a busy week 2 interviews, and lots of prep. but I thought it would go up before lunch but no luck. 3.9, had to be driving at 1400 so tested after lunch, 20 carbs and 4.1, then ate a muller fruit corner, waited 15 minutes 4.3 had 4 glucotabs got 4.9, went for my interview then after sat in the car at 1630 tested again and 3.9. more glucotabs and a tracker bar made a couple of phone calls then tested again 4.7. drove home 1750 tested again 4.3. got the ump and I've just had a Chinese for dinner will test again in an hour. I've taken my Metformin but have left the gliclazide out tonight to see how I go.

Awwww I hope this works out for you Alan. It can be a real bloody nuisance and pretty unfathomable at times. I have been in situations where nothing seems to have any impact. Chinese for dinner sounds really good and you have me licking my proverbial chops sat here. I will not offer any silly suggestions as you appear to have stuff really well covered. I Hope the situation improves 😉

70 mins after dinner 6.7, hope I'm back to normal tomorrow. More carbs today than last week.

I wonder if it was a reaction to stress from the interview? Sometimes people do go down rather than up. Hope it's smoother sailing for you from now on Alan! 🙂

Thanks Northie, I hope so, I shouldn't complain to much I was in no pain, its this loss of control thing that gets to me, then maybe exacerbates the situation as I get angry with myself.

It's happened to me on a few occasions (thankfully, rarely) and I found it quite scary wondering why I wasn't responding to the sugar at all 😱 I wonder what is happening to make it so stubborn? Must be due to a sudden excess of insulin for some reason

Got my check up with nursey on 28th will ask her opinion.

I think most of us have had the occasional carb shoveling to no avail session

Alan, my type 1 son doesn't yet drive but needs to be at a reasonable BG level before walking to school (30 minutes up steep hills!) - can't go out the door with a Bg in the 4's. If he ate digestive biscuits etc it would take ages to increase his levels, so instead he'd have half a glass of orange juice - 100ml OJ contains about 10g carb, similar to 1 digestive biscuit but much quicker absorbed. So I'd recommend next time you need to hurry things up, choose a faster acting carb.
