As some of you may remember I have number of eye retinal problems - mainly stemming from hemi retinal vein occlusion in my left eye that subsequently caused neovasculation leading to a significant amount of laser. Moorfields have previous said there no room for anymore lasering in that eye and damage to my macula from the vein occlusion means that I have no useful vision with my left macula.
I've also had glaucoma in both eyes for 20 years and the extremely early sign s of macula degeneration in my right eye and a retinal membrane but it is the eye that I've been relying on for the last 22 years for all of my crafting etc.
Anyhow sorry for the long background. Went to Moorfields retinal diagnostic hub at Hoxton last Tuesday where they do all the tests quickly so you don't get any results but wait for the consultant to review it online. Patients will only be asked to attend a subsequent hospital visit if the consultant sees something requiring urgent or personal attention.
So I'm now rather upset that I've just received an appointment letter in the post for early October - I just so hope that my relatively "good" eye is ok but I've have been noticing that it isn't as clear, comparatively speaking as it was.
I was particularly shocked by the letter because 18 months ago the Moorfields retinal consultant thought that me having anymore problems was very low and my local hospital said everything was ok (for me) three months ago. Hey ho Moorfields Gluacoma next Tuesday but they don't discuss the retinal stuff.
HBA1C is 6.6 (lowest consultant really wants it because of the risk of hypos with the gastorparesis), blood pressure good and cholesterol 4.7 with the breakdowns ok. I'm limited with my food choices because of the gastroparesis so not sure what else I can do.
Guess I just needed to let off steam.
