hey!

Does someone know if a pharmacist can change the strips prescribed to a lower fee one, or one that they have a meter ready for, for example?
Thanks for help!

I don't believe so. Only the prescriber can change the things being prescribed. The pharmacist is just fulfilling the prescription (though they can give lots of good advice too!)

Of course meters and strips are not prescription-only. So you can always buy one (like the Caresens) that uses cheaper strips?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Test strips are unique to each meter, so dispensing different strips that do not match your meter is pointless as they will not work. If the meter and strips are being dispensed together.... which would be pretty unusual.... I guess it is possible that the pharmacist might try to provide a different make of meter and strips but problems will arise when you get a repeat prescription for strips in the future and they don't match. It is very unusual for someone who is only "at risk of Diabetes" to be provided with a meter and prescribed strips. on the NHS. Do you have some other condition which makes your blood glucose more critical or do you just have a very proactive GP practice?
