I am exhausted

Dad is in a nursing home for respite cae - while the council fit a new kitchen
and a new bathroom/wet room.

I am spending time visiting him at the home and a lot of time at his house trying to keep on top of the work being done.

The kitchen should be finished tomorrow, so I will have a lot to put back into the new cupboards, and try to thin out VERY old items. Currently, there are around 10 cardboard cartons in the middle of the living room, fully of crockery, cutlery, tins and Goodness knows what.

The bathroom/wetroom, looks really cool, and when the flooring FINALLY goes down it will really look magic - the only problem. they took out the grab rails and have lost them, so they must be replaced as Dad is still recovering from his stroke.

He has no conception as to the work that I have done. The work done is of a good standard - but their housekeeping in awful - there is dust and rubbish everywhere,it will take a LONG time to clear it all. All being well the
workmen will have finished on Friday - I go to the York meet on Saturday,
work like a made thing on Sunday and get Dad back home on Monday morning in time to meet his army of carers.

Phew! During all this time my diabetic regime has gone to blazes, numbers are poor - need to get the finger out. Looking forward to the York meet , will problem catch zzzzzzzzzzs on the journey down.

Thanks for listening

Hi Hazel moan away hun you are more then entitled, I can kind of relate to your plight as my dad is getting the same done at his house its a total mess and im going there tomorrow for a few days to stay and feel so guilty for turning up right in the middle of the mess but needs must, You must keep in your head the weekend and all the good fun your going to have meeting the guys coming along to York, sounds like you need some you time x I hope they get the work finished for Friday, loveto your dad and yourself.

Hazel, I really don't envy you 😱 One of the reasons my house needs so much doing to it is because I hate having workmen in, they can be so hit and miss. Even the good ones make a mess that's left to you to clear up. Don't make your dad feel guilty for leaving you to deal with it all, but do let him know how hard you've had to work to get things ready for him! 🙂

I hope they leave in good time on Friday - don't try and get too much done that evening so you can enjoy Saturday! So wish I was coming too, send everyone my best wishes 🙂 I hope that you are able to get to grips with your levels and finally get to relax once all the mayhem is over with! 🙂

Is there no one who could help you with this clean up effort Hazel? I do feel for you, it's horrible cleaning up after workmen and the fact that you don't have much time to do it makes it so stressful. I think you will have to do the best you can in the time you have without wearing yourself out if that's possible. I'm glad that you are still going to the meet and I hope you have a lovely time. It's important to still do that for yourself because you matter too!

I'm sure it will be lovely when it's all done and even if you can't get it to your standards by Monday at least it will be clean and a bit more can be done as you go along. Do you know I'm still finding brick dust from the work we had done 12 months ago! So go steady and don't try to get it perfect!

Sending love and hugs.xx

You have got a lot of balls in the air, and it's so so hard sometimes, too much to do for one person and it just seems to go on and on :(
Anyway, have a lovely time on Saturday, enjoy yourself and chill out for a few hours. Please take care of yourself and I'm sure things will settle down soon. Warm wishes Sheena x

Moan away, it helps to moan. Sounds like a huge ammount of work for you, so you're entitled to a moan. I hope your dad is happy with the end results.
