Can anyone tell me there any groups in the Birmingham b33 area were I meet other fellow sufferers about my own age please

Have you had a look at the Diabetes UK website? There are groups all over the country.

The site isn't very helpful unfortunately. Whilst it lists a Birmingham group there are no contact details - you need to email voluntarygroups@diabetes.org.uk for them. My personal experience is that the groups tend to be attended by older, Type 2s, but obviously this can vary from group to group. There is an organisation called Circle D which is for 18-30 Type 1 diabetics: http://www.circledrocks.co.uk/default.html but this does not appear to have a group in the Birmingham area. Perhaps you could ask your DSN if he/she knows of any local groups, or if there might be a possibility of starting one up?

We'll be having a Birmingham Forum Meet in September, so it would be great to see you there! 🙂
