thanks

i had a piece of toast with low fat cheese on it and 2 hours later re did test (thinking it the test ) its now 15.4 oh dear i have had a cold and been off colour.
husbands was morning 6.2 after food 6.7

Hello there
From your message it sounds like your husband hasn't been diagnosed yet? He can request his GP to set up a fasting glucose test and a glucose tolerance test to see how his sugars react. That way he'll get a proper diagnosis and treatment if needed.
Good luck
Catherine

I have misread yr thread and see that it's you that has the worries over sugar levels! All the above, except applied to you ... sorry 😱

I'd agree with Willsmum you should arrange to get properly tested, your tests are certainly out of the non-diabetic range but a proper clinical test needs to be done to rule out anything else causing it. Good luck and do let us know how you get on.

Welcome to the forum. Don't panic, even if the tests do end up saying it's D. The damage it causes happens very slowly, and you're quick off the mark by spotting the need for investigation before any other symptoms appear. Good luck.

I think both of you need to see the doc. You need to be tested for D as has been said, and if your husband's loss of feeling isn't caused by D, then something else is doing it, so you need to find out what!

thanks

i am seeing the doctor wednesday

my husband has been tested before and was re tested when he got Gangrene on tip of toe.
hospital said cant find reason for his feet and said he has all the problems of having Diabetes but has normal blood sugars so keep an eye on sugars.

When they say he has "normal" blood sugars you might want to ask how they define normal since sometimes their "normal" is a bit high.

Also, have they checked for iron in the blood. Since the measurement they use relies of the glucose that has bonded to iron, if you have lower then normal iron levels it throws the measurement off.

If that was the case I'd expect the self-monitoring levels to be significantly higher then the HbA1c figure and you have posted a self-monitoring figure of 6.2/6.7 before/after which isn't really really high.

Welcome to the forums too 🙂

thanks

I think your husband shop ask for a doppler test to check circulation. Poor circulation is not always caused by diabetes. A raised cholesterol level or smoking can cause similar problems. A good podiatrist can also do this although there will be a charge (~?20). However many are more knowledgeable on these sort of conditions than GPs.

my husband has had doppler test to check circulation.his cholesterol level ok ,dont smoke he has seen two podiatrist.

:( i have seen my nurse today i have diabetes t2 been put on pills, given blood monitor, blood test strips and a sharps bin. go back in a month.
fasting blood was 9.3 🙄

Ah, sorry to hear you have been diagnosed kittenjo :( Sounds like you have a very proactive doctor though, to have been given the full kit - many people do not get any strips to test with. What pills are you on? Have a read of Jennifer's Advice, Maggie Davey's letter and Test,Review, Adjust by Alan S - these should all help you to understand how to approach things. Please let us know if you have any questions 🙂
