Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
As I'm new to all this I'm a bit confused to say the least. I'm experimenting with various foods and this evenings readings have confused me even more..

This evening at 5pm I had 2 Heck Pork Sausages, A whole corn on the cob and a veg stir fry with a teaspoon full of Soy Sauce. I also had a pint of German Wheat Beer!
Blood just before eating was 6.0.
At 6.30pm I went for a half hour leisurely walk.
Just tested at 7.15pm and my blood sugar is now 5.5.

So the question is could it have been the beer that helped lower the reading, The walk or a combination of both as I expected the reading to be higher not lower.

I'm Type 2 with no medication.

I would say the walk & beer would probably contribute, try a reading in another hour.... My guess is that it will go up

I bet! I've got a black Tom too, he's a big softy lol!

Tested again at 8.30pm and risen to 6.0.

That's pretty good, the corn alone would have spiked me big time...... You will find variances in BG readings even taken a few seconds apart.

Thanks for reply really appreciate it.

Walking is excellent. I've been walking off my pig-outs, thank goodness for walking. 🙂

I enjoy walking as well and if it helps keeping everything in line then great, I'm lucky to have the beach 10 minutes away in one direction and a range of hills 10 minutes the other so I'm spoilt for choice luckily.

The tricky thing about diabetes is that everyone is different. For me the both beer and the corn on the cob would have resulted in a significant hike in BG. Beer tends to push my BG up rapidly to begin with and I would only see any BG lowering effect of the alcohol many hours later.

My money is on the walk helping, but it's good to find out your individual tolerances and reactions to things, and not to expect diabetes to behave with any kind of logic or much consistency!

Thanks, Knowing how folks are different is the main reason I'm experimenting with all sorts at the minute, All a case of trial and error but will hopefully be worth it in the end.
