Fairly new to this but I had an unexplained spike today.

Started the early morning wake up at 6.8 which is pretty good for me.

Today I skipped lunch so tested just before the evening meal at 5pm and was amazed to see a 10.3, Had grilled bacon and 2 egg omlette for breakfast and nothing but water since, Did a 5 mile cycle ride this morning as well.

Tested 30 minutes after the evening meal and got an 8.5 which again is pretty normal for me, Another 5 mile bike ride and now showing a 4.2 Two hours after the meal, For the life of me I have no idea what caused a spike like that or could it just be a fluke?

Any ideas most welcome.

Could be that your liver decided you needed a boost after your excercise and carb free brekkie and kindly dumped some glucose into your bloodstream.

Sounds like the exercise did the spike or the bode telling you it needed sugar so dumped some into your system

Bodies are weird at times I find.

Thanks khskel & DollyPolly thats all I can put it down to, Will try again today exactly the same thing and see what happens.

There is no rhyme or reason with diabetes. I experimented last week. I prepared 2 meals, exactly the same ingredients, all weighed out so that I could be sure that they were equal. Did exactly the same exercise each day, 3 walks with my dogs, one to the shops. Ate the first one and the next morning my readings were 245 (13.6). The next night I ate the second meal and my morning reading was 58 (3.2). Before each meal my readings were very similar. I don't understand why this happens but have to accept that my body knows more than I do and I react accordingly.
