An NHS campaign to raise awareness of a serious lung disease revealed shock figures about the number of undiagnosed people who may have various breathing disorders.
The Know It, Check It, Treat It ?screening? roadshow stopped off for a day at a time in busy shopping centres in Gosport, Fareham, Havant and Portsmouth in October.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis, kills more people in the UK each year that either bowel, breast or prostate cancer.
In Hampshire, some 22,400 people have been diagnosed with COPD, which includes diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis - and there are fears that potentially more than 12,800 people don?t know that they have the condition.
