Neil Collingwood, 64, from Leek, Staffordshire, said the ending of England's lockdown rules on 19 July was not good news for people less able to fight off Covid-19.

Even people with two vaccine jabs were not completely without risk, he said.
He has made a prototype arm band.

It "is bright orange and uses the universal symbol for first aid," Mr Collingwood explained.

He has it in mind for adults with weakened immune systems, or who are immuno-suppressed, and less able to battle infections naturally.

Wow! Having to wear a lanyard to show that you have a disability is demoralising enough. Now you get to wear a bright orange 'armband' so everybody knows!

Ummm... am I missing something here? If you’re shielding you don’t leave your house, so why do you need an armband?

Personally I feel it would be a waste of time as nobody going to take any notice.

If you make the assumption that the older a individual the probable higher risk that individual has... Yet go into a shop, does anybody go ah, they're elderly lets take a step or two back, and give them more space. Nope they don't.

Will a carriage or a bus full of people not wearing masks, put them on when somebody who's wearing an orange wrist band climbs on board, nope they won't.

Safest thing for an individual, is do their own risk assessment, then see how they can lower the risk or do they take the risk

I guess most folk would see that armband and assume you are a first aider. It’s far from clear what it signifies.

A black armband with a skull on it would certainly clear a space round you.

Not for me I’m afraid even though I need one. I also said I thought people would assume I was a First Aider. My concern is people would come closer to inspect it and ask what it signified.
I might just shout if people invade my space! 😉
