AN NHS health service is urging diabetics with foot problems to seek help quickly to reduce the risk of amputation.
During Diabetes Awareness Week, which began on Sunday, Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BHFT) is highlighting the importance of foot care for people with diabetes, who can suffer reduced circulation in their feet.
It said research by the National Audit Office suggested that if people were referred to specialist foot teams earlier, the NHS could save more than ?34million a year by decreasing the number of major amputations.
