C8 MediSensors Gains CE Mark Approval for the C8 MediSensors Optical Glucose Monitor? System for People with Diabetes

A new non-invasive continuous glucose monitor is approved for marketing in Europe

We are pleased to contact you with our latest news: C8 MediSensors, Inc. has received CE Mark approval for its Optical Glucose Monitor System. Our new non-invasive continuous glucose monitor (nCGM), will be marketed in Europe

This is great news! Pain free monitoring of Blood Glucose is just around the corner!!

Hi Robofski,

Thanks for posting - hopefully it will be here soon.🙂Bev

Can't wait my daughter has always hated testing more than the insulin

The major advantage to this form of CGM is that it has no real running costs. Once it's paid for, I think that's it for 2 years.

Current invasive CGM has to have a regular supply of sensors which is what makes it so prohibitive.

Ohhhhhhhh I REALLY WANT ONE! Would make everything so much easier!!!🙂

They say this is designed to last for 4 years! It's not cheap (expected to be about $4000 (?2500) that's about the same cost as just the supplies each year for a regular CGM!

I'm putting one on my Christmas list 🙂

It could make it a viable means of improving control for diabetics who struggle. And would be easy to invest and loan to patients for short periods. No need to fund sensors once they've bought it.

I hope NICE can see it as a means of improving long term control and showing patients how and where their own control might benefit from small changes in their lifestyle/routine.

And of course I WANT ONE !!!!! :D

I totally agree, the near zero running costs could make this a much more affordable option for PCT's to loan out, allowing more people to get a better understanding of their BG behaviour.

Absolutely, this has the potential to make CGM available to far more people. I met with the company recently along with a few other bloggers and the tech is impressive. Compared to existing CGM it's much bulkier to wear, but it is also far cheaper, and easier to take on and off because it's non invasive. It should definintely shake the CGM market up a bit.

More detail on what I thought of it here http://www.shootuporputup.co.uk/2012/09/a-cheaper-non-invasive-cgm/

The thing that worries me is the belt, if it's close to the skin like that, how is it kept clean?

I'm pretty sure the belt looked washable (it was material), and you can buy more than one for it. You'd just wipe the actual device.

The size-adjustable band is discreet, comfortable and washable. Your monitor comes with two bands and two band extenders.

So you wear one and wash one 🙂
