Clarks Summit Elementary third graders braved this morning’s cool autumn temperatures and marched around their school for a cause.
The students were learning about diabetes and how to lead active, healthy lives.
“We walk for an hour to promote a healthy lifestyle,” said Marge MacArt, a gym teacher at the school.
Each time the students finished a lap around the building, they discussed topics like healthy eating or the difference between type one and type two diabetes with their gym teacher and Jennifer Ross, a representative from the American Diabetes Association. Then the third graders threw balls to one another while reciting the facts they learned.

Shame the article made this mistake:

Prediabetes, a precursor to diabetes, occurs when blood sugar levels are abnormally high, heightening the risk of developing type one diabetes, heart disease and stroke, according to a National Institutes of Health website. This condition can be treated with moderate exercise and weight loss.
