Does anyone know if you can drink alcohol whilst on Byetta. I am not talking a lot - just a glass.

If you can, should you have it before or after injecting?

thank you all.

Hi Lucy, I see no-one has answered you yet. A friend of mine is on Byetta and he sure drinks. The only concern I am aware of is that the alcohol may decrease your Blood sugar and increase your risk of a hypo.

Have a look here: http://diabetes.emedtv.com/byetta/byetta-and-alcohol.html

Thanks for the reply Vicsetter and the link.
I didn't have the glass after all as wasnt sure. Yes I seem to remember now re the hypos and dont want to increase the chances. Not had one for 5 days now!🙂

A glass won't hurt, in fact red wine is supposed to be good for you isn't it.?

It was white - but you are right a glass probably wouldn't hurt - maybe next time.

Found out today pineapple doesn't seem so good on Byetta! Sick, Sick Sick and only had a bit!

Hi Lucy,

I have never had a problem with the odd drink whilst on Byetta. I just make sure I have eaten properly first, as per standard rules.

When I was on it, I would have drunk alcohol and nothing said not to...however being sick nearly all the time meant I didn't fancy a drink ever!! Blurgh.
