To be honest, I really don't like rainy days... So to cheer myself up on the second rainy day in a row I decided to treat myself.....
Down at the local community market I saw some freshly fried burritos.... How bad can they be? Small, filled with chicken, the fat from the frying should lower the GI (I say to myself)

BG
Before eating 3.7
1 hour later 7.0 :(
2 hours later 12.3 😱 retest 11.2😡
3 hours later 10.1😳

Moral of the story..... Never go to the store while hungry.....

Sorry no idea what a burrito is! But doesn't sound good for the old blood sugars!

Tortilla wrapped around a filling, and in this case deep fried......

Oh dear. That spike was to the moon & back! Anyway, thanks for testing Burrito's for me.:D Now know to avoid them.

Oops

Go for the bowl or naked option - all the stuff that's in the burrito, but without the tortilla. I usually get mine without the rice too. Minimal impact on your blood sugar and as a general rule, the second hottest sauce on the menu is the one with the best spice to sugar ratio - the milder sauces obviously have more, and the hot hot sauce usually has more sugar in too to try offset the heat.

When on big SAR callouts the Sheriff's department usually brings out the Chuck Wagon.... Good way to setup energy levels for the day is their breakfast burrito (eggs, bacon, sausage mixed together).... I open mine up & scrape out the filling for my breakfast. Unfortunately the lunch & evening meals (if we get one) are usually less adaptable.

I drove past a... Was it a Taco Bell? Something like that... It had a drive through and a kind of Maccies plastic look, if you know what I mean.

I'm safe. It was a looooong way from home, but i have always had insatiable curteosity, and i really wanted to see how bad it would be...

Thanks for quelling that impulse for me :D

I used to love a burrito! Not risked having one since diagnosis.

Naan bread does that to me, only tried it once since diagnosis and the post-meal readings frightened the life out of me! 😱 :(
