Few days ago I burnt myself on the arm when I managed to touch the kettle just after it had boiled.

Started off as a red mark which has had skin peeling off it and therefore the mark is a red one and it looks like it’s going red around the sides of it too.

Not sure my next action as obviously been diabetic I know I need to be careful and with the current situation not sure if anyone would even see me in person to look at it.

Hi Mark - OOOh...that sounds so painful! Fished out an NHS link, maybe helpful? But i guess if its starts to look puss filled, it may be infected. Worth a ring to your GP surgery (some are open over this w/end, some will have out of hours call back facility, for verbal advice. Hope it gets better soon.

Hi @MarkGeordie
I have just seen an item on the news, reminding people that they should still get treatment for accident such as yours. If it is ,looking infected go to A&E, or contact GP. Don’t ignore it.

If it is easier your local pharmacy can give advice although they will not dress it but will sell proper dressings/ creams.. I did same thing last weekd but not sore until a small blister on my finger broke - which I had not seen, The main area is now dry but top skin cracked and is now flaking off so I think I got off lightly.

It’s just rather sore right now. Thanks for the replies.

I could ring the GP surgery on Tuesday and see what they say. Unless it gets really bad then I’ll probably have to use the out of hours for advice or 111.

Acriflex cream and/or gel is good to instantly relieve the soreness of minor burns and helps to keep the area of skin affected hydrated whilst it's healing. Something I used to always keep by me along with the paracetamol and plasters, essential on holiday when I sunburnt eg my nose or the top of my ear(s) and also after a certain person with me's hair got thin on top but refusing to accept this and ditto wear a hat, used to burn the top of his head!

I’ll see if I can get my hands on some of that. Thanks.

As said your local pharmacy is a good place for not only really good advice on your injury but will have the supplies to treat it and they will tell you if you need to see anyone else.

Yeah I’ll go to the pharmacy. My local one is closed over the weekend though.

Sudocream is good for burns and you should be able to buy it in a local shop.

Hi, sorry to hear you have hurt yourself, burns can be so painful. GPS and the nurses are still seeing patients under strict hygiene regulations. If you ring onTuesday you can speak to a doctor and if necessary they will arrange for you to go in. Our surgery is actually open Bank Holiday Monday as well (and Good Friday) so it may be worth a call Monday to see if yours is. Hope you get it sorted soon x

Thanks I will ring when they are open just to get some reassurance if nothing else.

Sorry to hear @MarkGeordie

Hope it settles down over the weekend, and you can get some good advice if you decide you need it looked at. I wonder if you could email a photo to your surgery?

Im glad you said that Mike as I was thinking of asking the same thing to them and seeing if they have an email address I can send one over to so at least a doctor could take a look at it.

Lots of stuff is having to adapt to the new ‘isolation / distancing’ landscape, and things that wouldn’t have been done a year ago are now being adopted - so you never know!

Totally agree - I’ll see what they say.

Most surgeries are doing video and or phone consultations these days.
