Hi,

What sort of diet do you have - in particular, in terms of carbohydrate intake especially the starchy carbohydrates - e.g. cereals, bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, pizza etc? Cutting back on those usually leads to a big reduction in blood glucose readings - and quickly too.

Best wishes - John

Apart from Spuds and Pizza, the very things my heart specialist / dietician told me to eat more of. Saying that there has been no recent change to my diet.

Hi again,

I can't really offer any meaningful advice regarding what you ought to eat for heart problems. However, I'd have thought from what I've read that the advice that one might be given would be to eat as little fat as possible.

Certainly, it is my experience that as far as the effect of different foods on blood glucose levels is concerned, with the benefit of testing and hindsight, I am certain that the worst foods that I used to eat were pizza, cereals and potatoes.

You need to take account that Type 2 diabetes is a progressive condition - i.e. your situation can worsen with time without you doing something different to make it get worse. However, it is my experience that it is possible to change things for the better - i.e. reverse the situation - by changing the type and quantity of differnt foods that one eats.

Again with the benefit of hindsight, I am now convinced that my Type 2 diabetic condition was developing for many years - possibly as many as 10 or 15 years - before the condition was eventually diagnosed.

Good luck with your situation.

Best wishes - John
