Brexit could force 2,137 GPs out of NHS, warns RCGP

Brexit could mean that more than 3m patients across the UK lose their family doctor, the RCGP has warned.

The college says that 2,137 GPs across the UK are from the EU, and is calling for the next government unilaterally to guarantee their right to remain in the country post-Brexit.

Polling commissioned by the college from YouGov shows that three in five people believe EU healthcare staff should have their status guaranteed 'from the outset' in Brexit talks.

College leaders estimate that if these doctors are forced out of the UK, 3,456,481 patients stand to lose their family doctor.

It's the law of unintended consequences. Nobody on the Leave team anticipated this, and it's an acute embarrassment. They've been hoping to use these people as a bargaining chip, but now they dare not. It's now an imperative to protect their status at the outset. At least it would show goodwill.

Nobody from the EU is being deported, not doctors, not nurses, nobody. People spreading these lies should take a good look at themselves for the worry they create, aminals every single one of them.

Nobody is being deported, but they may well leave out of fear for their status unless that is guaranteed. It's not other people creating the worry, it's the people affected themselves. They fear that their status will become illegal. I know at least three. It's not a lie.

People reporting that fear aren't animals. That's a rather extreme description of people telling the truth, however uncomfortable that may be.

They are not being forced out and NEVER will be, to say that is a lie, and it spreads a fear that should not exist, their status will not become illegal in Britain, only an animal would spread those lies.
