Greetings all...
I found on Xmas Eve that I had Pre-Diabetes. My HB1AC test showing 42...It was 40 last year. Ive decided to take this seriously and so counting calories/ carbs and sugar, radically reduced drinking (I am partial to a light ale or 2) and the running trainers are ready for tomorrow.
Im early 50s and have a BMI of 28.6. Got it down to 28.3 in a few days. Whilst overweight, only a stone or so... If I get this weight off this will reduce the reading? The thought of diabetes scares me and I need to manage this.
My other assumption that once I get the weight off...keep it off....Will this keep diabetes away for good?
Any advice and guidance would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Welcome to the forum, Not too much work to do to drop down from the first notch of prediabetes. Just being cautious of your carb intake by reducing your portions of the high carb foods should be sufficient but it does need to be a regime that is sustainable so has to be enjoyable. This link has some good ideas, https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/

Thank you... Ive been on the freshwell website. Its valuable place of information. Ive started watching carbs/ sugars and will continue to do so. So far so good. Im hoping this will reduce the HB1AC reading. Onwards and upwards!

HI @JPP226 and welcome to the forum - You will find lots of answers to any questions you may have from the wonderful people here - Your HbA1c result if relatively low so with a few tweaks to your diet and lifestyle you can hopefully achieve a reduction - although I'm Type 1 I have had a good look at the Freshwell website and it does give some very useful pointers on what (and not) to eat to give you the best chance - don't be scared, you are not alone here

Hi @JPP226 sounds like you won’t need to make major changes yourself in order to get the results your looking for, but obviously reducing your BMI slightly might be the key, well done on getting the trainers out

Thank you all… I’m in the discovery phase. Hopefully not too many daft questions..

Welcome, hope you enjoy your run today
