Silly me, don't you just hate it when you calculate your ratios incorrectly? Just ate soup with bread and on the tin it said 4.2g carbs per 100g. For some reason I thought this meant I needed 4 units of insulin . Only when I was tucking in did it dawn on me that I made a stupid mistake, 4.2g of carbs requires less than 1 unit of insulin for me. Now I'm eating extra carbs, even though I'm not hungry, to ensure no hypos. That will learn me

Remember a tin of soup is usually 400g

What about bread?

I snacked all afternoon, didn't really fancy much dinner, but managed to stay within normal levels. I won't make the same mistake twice

LOL - easy enough mistake and I doubt that will be the last time you do something like that.

Or you have 'some' of a packet of something which tells you it's X carbs per 100g, intending to weigh it and then someone comes in the kitchen and distracts you chatting and wham, clueless what weight of that you chucked in the mixing bowl/casserole.

Once again I take my hat off to you type 1s. It's like a black art to a simple soul like me who just pops a couple of pills a day. I know it means you can eat a bit more than type 2s and adjust accordingly, but by gum you all deserve it! :D

It's like a good many other health problems which all require management - you can shrug your shoulders and get on with it - or make a song & dance and let everyone know you're a martyr to it. Oh woe is me etc.

I'm sure we've all known people in that last category. Did we like them much? - most likely - not! 😉
