Well, sort of. My understanding of this is that they've found the on/off switch that causes T1, rather than what is pressing the button. But the theory now is if they can figure a way to turn that switch off, they kill off the autoimmune reaction that destroys the islet cells...and that could be VERY big.
This is the sort of research that needs funding, instead of cash being wasted on shinier meters or new insulins.
