Boris Johnson has been filmed at a private garden party telling Conservative members that the NHS absolutely needs to be reformed, as he fired them up for a general election by asking them to be ready to “wallop Jeremy Corbyn”.

The frontrunner to be Conservative leader and prime minister was videoed giving a rabble-rousing stump speech to members in Sutton Coldfield on Saturday, the day after the Guardian revealed that police had been called to his girlfriend’s flat following a late-night altercation.

Asked by one party member what he would do with the NHS, Johnson told the crowd the health service was a “crowning glory” but was “not getting the kind of support and indeed the kind of changes and management that it needs”, suggesting he as prime minister would aim to undertake an overhaul of the health service.

I really hope he's just making stuff up :(

I do not trust this guy one bit. I used to often listen to the LBC Phone ins when he was Mayor of London, and he had not got a clue.

I suspect a General Election may be in the offing, although goodness knows what that is going to produce, given the extreme stances being taken by so many people :( As parliament currently stands it's doubtful the Tories will be able to get any contentious legislation through, and depending what happens with Brexit they may not even be able to hold their majority if MPs defect or the DUP aren't happy 🙄 And all for what? I've still to hear what actual, tangible benefits this is going to bring to the country :(

I have been predicting for the last 18 months , that there will be no outright winner in the next election. The expert Professor Curtice has been predicting this from the last local and European Elections. I also believe that Boris Johnsons majority in his constituency is not that big.

I think it is around 5,000 - it got halved at the last election.

Conservatives will get absolutely trounced in the next election, I don't see how anyone with a brain could ever vote for them again after the Brexit mess. Whether you are for or against Brexit, I don't think anyone could possibly say that they have done a good job!

What will come after them though, heaven knows, please not the Brexit Party 😱😱😱

I suspect Labour might get trounced too for their lack of opposition. If there is a general election, I suspect the Tories might be wiped out in Scotland, and Labour will struggle. The Lib Dems and Greens will get a lot of disaffected Labour votes, and I suspect Boris will lose his seat, which would be hilarious.

That’s certainly a possibility (if you can have certain and possible at the same time). I think there’ll be no party with overall control, and nobody will want to form a coalition.
I can’t remember which country it is, but somewhere there’s a saying 'May you live in interesting times'...and it’s not a good wish!

Biggest danger is a coalition of Brexit Party and Conservatives :(

No, the biggest danger is the first past the post election system. The system of voting to the Scottish Parliament was designed to stop one party becoming dominant, and also to prevent large numbers of votes counting for nothing.

It was actually introduced to prevent Labour being in charge in Scotland in perpetuity, and supposedly to stop landslide results. It’s why there are Conservatives and Labour MSP in the Scottish Parliament. Few Tories would be there under first past the post voting. As shown in the election to the UK Parliament after the introduction of Poll Tax, when not a single Scottish Tory MP was elected to the UK Parliament. It’s likely something similar would happen now. There are 13 Scottish Tory MPs in the UK government currently. Do the maths.

It's a curse Robin, in Ankh Morpork and other parts of the Disc World.

Boris would be a terrible PM,even as a Tory myself there are many tories that could do better, he just isn't of good enough character to lead a nation let alone this great one.

BoJo is the next leader come pm, frightening prospect really.

Going to honest here, like the labour party there isn't anyone suitable in the tory party to lead this country, never seen politics in such a dire state as it is now.

I thought it was funny when all 300 million Americans could find was Hilary or Don, I didn't think we would get out own version with Jezza and bojo

We didn’t have a choice. America, rather worryingly, did.

We will have that choice at some point, unless Labour gets taken back off those momentum idiots and the tories off the ERG
