Last night the only option in the work canteen was a chicken stir fry because they had run out of brown bread for my poached eggs on toast. Grr....

Before I ate my BG was 5.6. OK I thought.

So I had half the stir fry and sat in the canteen for the rest of the shift as I was a spare driver.

I was getting bored after reading the papers, and three sodukus and everyone else had left so I did another BG test which was 13.6. Ouch I thought. I added Stir fries to the list of things to avoid.

Two hours after that and having done nothing but drink more tea I felt my BG was dropping. A quick test and my BG was 4.2. Man, I couldn't understand it.

So I sinned and had a packet of mini chocolate biscuits out of the vending machine as it was now time to walk home. I got a bus home and went straight to bed. This morning it was 5.6, pretty normal for me.

It got me thinking...

Is my body going bonkers or is 13.6 normal two hours after eating?

Hi my thought would be that it wasnt a slow release meal really so has hit your system quite quickly , you would expect to peak post meal at about 2 hours anyway. the return to normal levels just proves that point really , hey you got the have a treat as well without any nasty rises in levels thats good.

I had a strange day levels wise this week, maybe the weather is playing with you, or the stress of the sodukus?

Glad it's better now, but avoiding stir frys? Does that include house special chow mein? I couldn't do it tez, not me.

I avoid fried stuff - hence only having half the portion which was not a great size in the first place.

I think it's to do with the losing weight bit. My quack has got me trying 1 Metformin a day with more testing because of some lower than she likes readings. She wants me to try and stay between 5 and 6.5.

My thoughts are to try and see if 1 slow release tablet will be better but there isn't enough data for a trend to be ploted yet.

Personally I was quit impressed with the 4 - 5 readings but she was a little concerned but not worried.
