If you've estimated how many carbs for your meal then injected your bolus / QA insulin then after your (full) meal you may fancy a little something sweet which may be approx 10g carbs would you inject a further 1u..... of bolus / QA ?

No. I'd wait and test.

If I was a bit high, I'd correct and include the 10g.

If I was a bit low, I'd just eat it.

If I was spot on, I'd inject 2u and eat twice as much of it ! :D

I'd just inject and eat it. No way would I have Rob's will power to wait 2 hours then test! Plus I find Novorapid lasts about 4 hours for me, so it would be a long wait for pudding!

If it were just 10g, I'd eat it without extra insulin, but try to use up carbohydrate by cycling / walking / digging / chasing ducks etc. If it were 20g or more, then I'd have an extra bolus injection.

10g would be less of an issue (and I would prob just eat and/or jab depending on whether things seem to be running a bit high or a bit low that week)

Larger puds would need a little more careful handling to avoid dose stacking. A later injection (and these days square wave/extended bolus) seemed to offer half decent results.

Around 10g wouldn't be a problem so wouldn't inject extra, if it were 20 and above then I'd inject depending on the carb value.

If I felt I'd underestimated the meal, I'd definitely inject for the 10g. If I felt I'd been a bit generous with the meal insulin, I probably wouldn't. Not very helpful, but definitely how I work - so many variables to consider each time 🙂

Well I guess it depends .... 10g carb increases my meter reading by 3.0 give or take, so usually, I would inject.

I aim for 5.5 - 6.0 ish when dosing or correcting so I wouldn't want to be 3.0 on top of that uneccessarily, if I could help it.
