Has anyone had blurry vision when diagnosed with type2 that's got better when their blood sugar levels have lowered? I've got the blurry vision I've been put on Metformin and I'm hoping it will get better. Sorry if this is already covered, I couldn't find it☺. thanks

Eyesight can definitely go a bit awry when you've got high BS. It usually settles down when your levels improve.
Don't go rushing to the opticians just yet.
Get a pair of cheap reading glasses if you're struggling to read.

This is very common when you are newly-diagnosed, so don't worry, it will improve 🙂 It may take a week or two (I think about three weeks in my case), but it should return to normal and your future vision will not be affected. `

Hi
My vision was affected when diagnosed, and almost hit a wee black dog on zebra crossing...the image “now you see it...now you don’t” springs to mind. Luckily it’s owner was glowering at me and safe. I couldn’t even see labels on food. I hadn’t read anything about eyesight on here so trotted off to optician and prescription was really changed so got new glasses with advice to go back if the vision changed as BG improved, and they would replace them free. It didn’t change so that was good for me.
I couldn’t have continued to drive without them and my quality of life was affected.

It’s a hard call as glasses are so expensive.
This probably muddies the water for you but another bit of information

Yes mine wee the same, l had blurred vision in my right eye and dry eyes in both, dry eyes cleared in a couple of weks but the right eye took about six months and two hospital visits because l had a ruptured blood vessel but the consultant said the cause was probably not diabetes and my diabetic eye test came back clear.

Yes, although I felt more like I had acid in my eyes. Like my tears were really concentrated. It does go when your BG stabilises, mine aren’t great still but they’re mostly in the safe range, and the vision has improved.
