Hi,

I have done and sent in a blood test with an online blood test company and I am also having an NHS blood test this week.
Presumably they will give the same reading one would hope. If not that will be interesting. I was 45 last time so I am expecting a 46/47 this time. Whatever it is I need to buck my BG ideas up!
Not looking forward to the result because I did not behave myself (diabeteswise) and since my doctor and NHS nutritionist said I could eat more carbs I have got used to one slice of bread per day and the odd chocolate biscuit and far too much alcohol and twixes!
I have kept off the pasta rice potatoes except for the odd fish and chips. I havent been walking very much (which is a sin) but the weather has been cold wet and windy - none of which make walking a pleasure.
From today (LOL) I am not drinking alcohol for a couple of weeks and I will just have to get walking after dinner.

Hi @lordburnside , It's not easy and straightforward managing Diabetes and sometimes it's so challenging. I manage mine the best way I can but at the same time I don't want it to completely take over my life. Even if your result is higher than desired, with some changes it can be improved; you've started already so that's good. Roll on spring with hopefully some lovely weather to tempt you outside for a stroll. 🙂

Hi @lordburnside Xmas and the cold weather is a challenging time for all of us, so don't kick yourself too hard.

My BG's (morning finger prick) went from and average of 5.6 to 6.2, I'm now back to the 3 mile walks each day and watching the carbs again.
We can't be saints all the time

You'll have to let us know what both blood test results show @lordburnside. :care:

Thanks my first test is 47 so still pre-diabetic. It can only improve from now on.

Well I have had no alcohol or chocolate for 5 days but I have a bad back at the moment so the walking is yet to start but my aim is a reading of 40 by June! Also I am going to walk 1000 miles by Christmas ie 40 weeks by 25miles which should shift a couple of stone. All you have to do is stick to it! Thats the difficuly bit!
