Good afternoon,

Hba1c results returned, Hba1c remains at 36. Cholestrol has fallen but I don't understand why it is noted as abnormal (6), when HLD, LDL and Trigs are all noted within the normal range My question is, if all these are normal shouldn't the overall cholesterol fall into the normal range as well?

Now the long winded story of my diagnosis. Feel free to ignore

This blood test was requested by the DN in April when she heard I was originally diagnosed by a private clinic (my GP wouldn't let me have a blood test because I had no symptoms)two years ago, the clinic lost my original results, found them and only on a recent examination of the piece of paper there was no name and a different reference number from the first page. On the basis of this dodgy result, I was put on metformin immediately. Like many other people, it was in out with Diabetes GP, no time for any brief chat. I hadn't a,clue what was going on, at the same time I had torn my ligament in leg( found that out later) and was in great pain Tbh I didn't know if I was coming or going, but was mostly falling over (another story of GP not being too proactive)this was the only evidence of diabetes. Last month the DN was super helpful and said as I hadn't had any symptoms and had merely wanted a Hba1c(both parents were late onset diabetic), she thought it was possible that the clinic had muddled up my blood sample. But she did say as,I hadn't presented with any symptoms , I should have been offered a 2nd test. Ha ha. She is phoning next week, that should be an interesting chat.

That's mental. Can you put in a formal complaint to your GP surgery. Great HbA1c result though!

Hi, it is madness I agree. But i also know any complaint will not be looked at with any seriousness. The DN is great, and sees herself as Miss Marple. The same GP let me hoble, fall out of surgery telling me to take Ibuprofen and not asprins for the pain and goodbye. She was bored by the entire 10 minutes. Again I went privately and saw,a,sports consultant he was horrified andtold me nobody shoukd put up with such pain and I needed an MRI .That was area3nged, result , a torn ligament and some muscle strengthenig exercises needed. All good now. Whenever I am at ths surgery and they want to take my BP, i refuse as the place makes me mad. I take my BP at home.

Complain to the CCG or GMC? If she's treating you like that, then she will be doing the same to others. Any chance of moving surgery?

I tried the moving surgery, no joy, no room. I just pick my battles in life and this is one not to pick. I simply avoid her. But clearly not to forgive or forget.

I’ve met a few drs who I wouldn’t take a pet budgie to , so you have my sympathy.
Fortunately where I am now they are great.

TBTH , as parts of that letter to your Gp from the private clinic , we’re missing , I think your dx if Diabetes May be wrong, fingers crossed they are.

With diabetes they seem to want our overall cholesterol lower than (think it’s) 5 . I’ve found they (well my nurses do ) worry more about the over all level rather than the breakdown numbers
They also like our bp lower too.

Thanks, bp is ideal and overall cholestrol is high if I am diabetic or mildly high if not. As for diabetes, who knows. So will simply carry on and request my annual checks I am due as they made this mess. As for metformin (2 × 2 daily) am ok with a gradual reduction to see what happens. I am having the telephone consulation with Miss Marple next week.
