Before lunch 5.2 after 12.6
Dinner before 16.4 and after 12.-
I didn’t eat anything I shouldn’t between breakfast lunch and say after lunch so I really don’t u derstand what is going on
Cut out sugar and lowered my carbs
So fed up
Thanks in advance

Hi Topsy

Your before and after breakfast readings look pretty good, so I would say whatever you had for breakfast worked well for you. However, lunch shows a large rise as a result of what you ate or perhaps drank. What was on the menu?
Many people don't realise how many foods contain carbs so I wonder if you are eating things which you didn't know contained carbs Can you give us an outline of what you ate and drank.
Also did you make sure to wash your hands before testing... a little bit of fruit juice on your fingers from eating a piece of fruit or a tiny invisible smear of jam from passing someone the jam pot can contaminate your reading so worth checking when you get a reading which is much higher than you expect.

this is good advice, i've had readings drop by half after washing my hands. Also some hand sanitizers can contain glycerin/glycol that can give higher readings

I agree!

Try not to be too disheartened @Topsy

And if results have confused you or not made sense you can always recheck them - either in the moment to see if it was a duff strip, or another day with the same meals if the results don’t seem to match your expectation of the foods you ate.

Food will have the biggest impact overall, but there are lots of other things that can mess with your BG - stress, excitement, illness, hormones.... so first of all consider what you had at lunch. What were the sources and amounts of carb involved? Would they have caused the sustained rise right up until teatime?

Then recheck (perhaps with a smaller portion) if it makes little sense, or you’ve eaten that before and it’s seemed OK.

Over the years I’ve taken to eating very similar meals, especially breakfasts and lunches, so I can absolutely see that sometime I do the same thing, eat the same thing, and get different results.

Keep at it. These results aren’t a judgement of how well you are doing, they are must information to help you decide what to try next 🙂

You'll struggle to find any soap which doesn't contain glycerin/glycol.
The key is to rinse your hands thoroughly after use.
