My doctor took me off Metformin because I could no longer tolerate certain side effects and I was put on Glicazide once a day until finally being put on insulin therapy, Can you tell us why your GP changed your medication?
I know metformin not unlike many medicines has many side effects and usually, after a while most diabetics can tolerate them. There is also a slow release version of Metformin which can help those how struggle with the normal version. It can also depend on the dosage given. Did you GP not discuss the slow release Metformin? It can also depend on your BG results what medication is most practical for you.

I asked to be taken off it to see how I went. Doc did mention slow release.Noticed getting abit forgetful and agitated also racing heart. Do not eat alot of dairy or red meat but not a vegetarian. I occasionally eat abit of chicken and salmon so have asked for a blood test to check vitamin b12 as I understand metformin can affect this. Feeling alot better off it but have to go back in 4 weeks for check up.

I couldn’t hack the regular metformin but I’ve managed to take slow release without any issues.
