Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Afternoon.I was diagnosed T2 25mths ago. I test at least four times a day n I’ve noticed my bloods are climbing over the past fortnight. Highest is 15mmol, which is high for me as mine are usually between 4-5.5 mol. Should I get in touch with my diabetic nurse. I’m on metformin x4 x1 a day n gliclazide x2 twice a day. Thank you

As that is quite a difference I would be inclined to get in touch or make an appointment to see the nurse. Have you had a recent Hb1Ac test? Or drastically changed your diet?

Hi, @Ladyinpurple. It may be possible that you're coming down with a bug as that will raise blood sugars.

Hello, Ladyinpurple, welcome to this friendly and helpful forum. A good first move to log on🙂

The answer to your question is yes, you should speak to your diabetic nurse if nothing else has changed in the last two weeks.

Some folk find their BG rises in very cold weather. (And some folk find the opposite). If you haven’t changed your diet in any way, and you aren’t suffering from some winter virus, it may be that your pancreas is taking a step closer to retirement.

Thank you for welcoming me to the forum. I appreciate all your replies. I will get in touch with my diabetic nurse.

Good, better safe than sorry especially with diabetes. Please keep us informed. Obviously take your meter readings in with you to show the nurse.
