One of the very rare side effects of that drug - less than 0.01% - is apparently hyperglycaemia - so either you're in the under 0.01% mentioned or more likely, you've got something else wrong with you.

In any event if the high BG continues you will probably need to have a bit more insulin - but need to discuss this with a doctor, not me!

Sorry to hear you have felt a bit shaky @mikem24

I’d not heard of flixonase, but it appears to be a steroid (which have a reputation for raising BG levels)

Flixonase Aqueous Nasal Spray contains 50 micrograms of fluticasone propionate per spray. This is an anti-inflammatory steroid medicine, which safely helps to treat the symptoms of allergic rhinitis
The other thing that might be elevating BG is the allergic reaction itself. Illness and injury often release stress hormones which again can raise BG.

If you usually do OK with porridge it might be worth switching to an alternative lower carb breakfast until you are feeling better. Eggs in a number of different ways seem to be a pretty good starting point (as long as you minimise carbs in what you are having them with).

Hope your BGs are behaving again soon.

Thank for your comment, things are starting to balance out now Flixonase is a steroid it can only be used for 6 weeks, it is used to open up nasal passages and reduce any polyps within the nose, it is now working as it should I can now breath through my nose a bit better. I was very uptight when I did the post on my problem as I was only getting about 2 hours sleep a night, have seen a doctor about my sleep problem and he gave me a mild sleeping pill for 28 days I did speak to my local chemist and he did suggest I stopped the flixonase but doctor said to carry on with them as they will reduce the blockage in my nose. Only problem now is the hangover i have taking the sleeping pill.

I now have an appointment tomorrow to see the specialist about my nose problem, which came through in record time, less than 2 weeks since I asked a Doctor to refer me. A lot of my problems stem from being on my own 99% of any day, I am now looking for outlets to mix with others in the same position as me. Heres hoping I find a few outlets. On the subject of the eggs, I do remember a nurse once telling me off when she asked me what I had for breakfast. I told her 3 boiled eggs, was told I should only eat 2 eggs a week, that was before getting type2 though.

My bet would be that was quite a few years ago when there was concern that the cholesterol in eggs was a problem. That theory is now outdated and eggs are considered a very healthy food and particularly good for us diabetics. You just need to make sure you don't have soldiers with those 3 boiled eggs.... a mushroom/onion/ham/cheese omelette works very well though
