I have been out of quarantine from a mild dose of Covid (bit of a runny nose, bit of a cough, sore throat, eventually lossof smell) for a week now and I am ony left with a bit of a cough which doesn't bother me.
My fasting blood sugar pre covid was around 6.2 (down to < 6 in 4 hours becfore lunch) . During Covid my fasting blood sugar went up to 8.7 which I ignored as it always goes up with a cold infection . In the last few days it has come down to 7.4 fasting but today back to 7.6. I take 1 x metformin at breakfast. How long is it going to take to come back down and shoud I be bothered.? I admit I have not been able to do my usual exercise routine because of my health club Xmas/New Year closures and although I have a spin class tonight it wil only be next week when it is back to my usual one or 2 classes an evening. I am on a permanent low carb/low GI - nearly keto diet. Thanks for reading.

BTW - last time I was on here there were specific Forums for Type 1, Type2, etc - what has happened to this?

There is no real difference between 7.4 and 7.6, You probably still have some residue of infection and also people report that their levels are higher after Covid so may take a while to go back down.

Any idea what " a while" means. The reason is that I am due to have another HbA1c next month and it is going to be really skewed by the numbers I am getting and I have been thrilled the improvements with just one metaformin. I really do not want to go onto more meds. I am in my 70's and think I have done so well with diabetes problem which is inherited next to other members of my family most of which are/were skinny!!

The HbA1C is an average of the previous 3 months, but if it is higher than you would like you have a good explanation and therefore would be a reasonable reason for not needed more meds.

Sure you're not thinking of the other place - the for-profit "diabetes.co.uk" ?
