I was a little bored yesterday and decided to make a graph in Excel of all the blood sugar levels I recorded throughout July. I was quite surprised how it came out, I also done the same for June - lets just say I won't be including that one!!!

They seem to stay between 11 and 4.5 for most of the time. The 18 was when I was ill. The whole lot is slightly erratic however. These levels gave me a monthly average level of 7.9 which isn't too bad. Obviously I only check before/after meals so ones during the night aren't there and not always when i'm that active since I don't take my meter out with me.

So, just thought i'd share it cause its pretty interesting. Also I wonder if anyone else has a similar thing? Or you could make one up if you have enough recordings 🙂!

Thats a wicked idea! My head consultant does that with all my hba1c's over the past 12 years and that it CHAOTIC!

Will have to have a go tomorrow at work....halt everything....i'm busy!!!

If you can get software for your meter from the manufacturer, pretty graphs is one of the things you usually get.

An A1c number indicates that you have been above that level for a longer time than you have been below it, if you see what I mean. So my understanding would be that you were really in the 8's and above 8's for a lot longer than you were the 7's or below 7's.

I think - somewhere on the DUK website??? - there is a rough guide to what meter average a certain A1c indicates.

Mine often looks like that too, a good few more lows lately though than real highs. Looks like a flea on a pogo stick doesn't it?

Why not separate them out in the usual way by time of day and have four or five lines for fbg, pre-meal, post meal, bedtime etc. Much clearer to see trends and problem areas.
