So at 3 Diabetic clinic check ups my BP has been 130/84, 120/70 and again this week 120/70.

Also when I get my prescription I ask my pharmacy to check and it's always around 120/80.

Then a week ago out shopping, different pharmacy 140/90. A few days later at heath check up in work 140/90. Following day at Diabetic clinic 120/70. Later that day someone had a wrist BP checker and I was 138/88 at best (154/95 at worst). I know wrist ones are unreliable but surprised at the other two high ones which were both arm automatic ones.

Anyone else experienced such variances.

Mine vary constantly even between taking them 10 mins later. You seem at good levels generally however. Stress can trigger slightly higher levels.

I used to have white coat syndrome stemming back 22 years to when recovering from surgery I was attached to automatic BP monitor that was too tight. I did protest it was so tight it was waking me up every time it took my BP (felt like every 10 mins but was probably 30-60 mins). Nurse denied it was too tight. The following day another nurse giving me a bed bath (oh the loss of dignity) and she was commented at the bruising on my arm from a BP monitor being too tight (I had deep purple lines all around my arm where the monitor had been). For years I tensed up everytime they tried to take my BP to the point that some nurses took 3 or 4 attempts to get a reading saying I was "technically difficult". Now I switch off if possible like I do when I have a blood test (I really zone out for blood tests, my OH didn't understand until I asked him to come with me as I knew they had to take more than usual at a blood test so was concerned about driving - he said you were literally not in the room when the nurse was talking to you. I have no recollection!!!).

I wouldn't worry about the couple that were a bit elevated, they still weren't shockingly so, and it can vary 🙂 I have a home monitor because I have such bad white coat syndrome, and my levels are always fine at home. Interestingly, my GP took my BP the other day and it was 130/80, which was much lower than I usually get at the surgery - it must be the scary nurses! 😱 (My GP is really nice, and I always feel relaxed with her 🙂)
