so I have just started using a meter to track and work out what foods are causing spikes.

anyone have a guide on what levels are good bad ? I know when I have been tested recently my level at doctors is around 100

my current after food is 15.5

anyone have a link on what the difference is and what I need to be aiming for etc. I have been looking but struggling to understand

thanks

4-7 is the range it should be in fasting and pre meal and 8-9 post meal, sorry I don't have time to grab links as I'm just away to head off for the evening but I'm sure someone will be able to help with links xx

If the meter is for mmol/l then you should test just before starting to eat, then again 2 hours later, and the ideal is for an increase of no more than 2 mmol/l, though if you are just starting out and still getting high readings then 3 is probably a good start, and the meals which cause higher spikes should be targeted for adjustment - assuming there are any.

You should aim for between 4 - 7 before meals/fasting and under 8.5 at least 90 mins after eating (I tend to test after 2 hrs).

The 9 Kaylz mentioned is for type 1’s.

@Massive183 - This link has the target ranges for your food related readings on there. Please remember these are for decent control. Right now, your numbers are pretty high, so don't expect perfection overnight, even if you have changed your diet radically. It can take several days or a couple of weeks before numbers improve too much, if you've been high for a while.

You score of 100 is based on a different scale. It is described here:

Take it steady, but testing will give you a lot of information to help with the changes.
