after my dinner yesterday 2 hours later blood glucose was 5.9 the lowest i have had for a long time .then for tea i had 2 slices of burgen soya & linseed bread with a slice of roast beef out of a packet & and some dijon mustard & a couple of sliced tomatoes .2hours later my bloods where 9.0 where did i go wrong

Packet meat sometimes contains sugar and starch, but I'd say the bread was the culprit.

It seems to be around 13g per slice.

thought the bread was ok reading advice burgens soya & linseed bread seems to be highly recommended for diabetes will have to look for another bread anyone got any ideas which one thanks

Advice given for diabetics is often wrong, I have found - to maintain my blood glucose in normal numbers, I d o not eat grain at all and restrict carbohydrate in general.
At least you have discovered that your numbers are high with two slices of bread - I had a steak for my last meal yesterday, with low carb choices - mushrooms, sweet pepper and cauliflower.

At 13g carb per slice it is one of the lower carb breads available at the supermarket though there may be some others which are lower per slice but the slices may be smaller. Maybe if you just had 1 slice that would be OK, worth testing before rejecting that bread. Carbs in tomatoes are pretty low but not insignificant, an 80g tomato is 3g carb.

Burgen bread might be OK for some diabetics and not for others and whilst I beleieve it was one of the first lower carb breads on the market, there are lower carb options now which might work better for you. The other thing to consider is what you did after your mid day meal and what you did after your tea. If you were active in the afternoon, that may have reduced your lunchtime food impact but if you sat and watched TV after your sandwich then that could have caused your levels to go higher.... particularly if you watched the news which is pretty stressful at the moment.
There are many things which affect BG levels other than just food, so whilst it is probably the main player, it is important not to draw any conclusions from any one test. Try the same sandwich another night and see if you get the same result, if so, that suggests 2 slices of Burgen bread is too much for you and you could try just one and have something else lower carb to bulk out your meal.....olives and cheese are a regular option for me.... or try a lower carb bread as mentioned, like the HiLo or LivLife..... and test again...
