Blood glucose i’ve just done my finger pricking with my glucose monitor it’s is 3.6 I am on one map metformin slow release had been in the garden and just picked up the stuff my husband cut down not mad gardening is this normal for a type 2 I’m going to have my lunch now I will check it after lunch again

It's OK ! Good plan to eat asap if/when this happens. It's because it is so warm at the mo, our body uses insulin much more efficiently in the heat, whether it's our own insulin same as yours, or the artificial sort that others inject.

Thank you Jenny I had my lunch and one hour later it was 6.3 I didn’t feel any different and considering I should not be testing so my doctor said ,I would not know

Have just checked my blood glucose before tea and it is 3.9 and I have not gone out in the sun is this normal what do I do if going out for the day sorry for sounding a bit silly

There is no great cause for concern with dropping below 4 unless you are on a medication (usually Gliclazide or insulin) which can result in too much insulin in your system which could drop you dangerously low. Metformin doesn't work like that but it may be preventing your liver from releasing enough glucose to keep your levels above 4, so you could experiment with stopping the Metformin for a few days and see how you go, if you are worried about it or ideally wait until next week and discuss it with your nurse or GP first.
The ambient temp in itself can be enough to cause the drop rather than just being in the sun and of course BG meters are not 100% accurate so your 3.9 reading could in reality easily be 4.3. The important thing is that you feel OK. If you start to feel unwell then a small snack should help. If it makes you feel any less worried, non diabetics on no medication can drop below 4 too, without problems. Your body has "checks and balances" mechanisms to deal with levels if they get too low and getting hypo symptoms is one of them.

Thank you Barbara I have been on Gliclazide for eight weeks back in December the doctor and Icame to agreement that I have 1 Metformin s/r until my next hba1c in September I will be talking to the nurse this week for my review
I am feeling good and I Wouldn’t know if I didn’t check my bloods that it was so low
I will experiment tomorrow and not take my Metformin and see what happens, I have had a hypo
When taking Gliclazide so know what I am looking for thank you so much for the reply

Some readings in the high 3s aren’t all that unusual @mage 1

You might find you feel suddenly very hungry at those levels, or you may hardly notice them.

Good that you were keeping tabs on things.
