Since I started logging my meter readings and doing something about them I had a shock at 12:55 when I went to check my Bg I was excepting to be around 7 or so. But low and behold it was 2.3 what happened was it the machine or me hmm I give up.

Did you retest? Might be worth using the control solution to check that the meter is working correctly. They do sometimes throw up rogue numbers, but very rarely, and usually ones that seem too high rather than too low. What meds are you on Donald? Did you treat it with some jelly babies or something?

I'm waiting for the control solution to come ordered it about a week ago, I was about to have a sandwich for lunch. Only on metformin 5 a day for the diabetes 2 morning 1 lunch 2 dinner. I had a banana and the ham sandwich for lunch and at 5:30 I tested before dinner, I was 6.4 I didn't think to re test. Did the last test of the day at 9:16 and was 6.8 weird day Started at 6.9 before brekkie .

Looks like it might have been a rogue value then Donald. You had good steady levels apart from that! 🙂

You always get outliers, or rogue values as Northern writes. The hand held meters are supposed to be within range 95% of the time but in addition to those outliers, you make mistakes like squeezing too hard and putting too much interstitial fluid into the capilliary sample.

You can get funnies either way, too high or too low. If it looks odd, test again. Platelets are another thing which can mess up capilliary blood (finger prick) readings. They are entirely random.

I'll put it down to a rogue reading and watch out for anything else in case some thing similar happening again. thanks Alan & yorksman
