If you have T2 and are healthy (apart from D) & not on insulin & live within traveling distance of Birmingham (UK), Neqas are desperately looking for more people to donate a "pint" of blood that will be used to quality check the labs that do HbA1c levels. The "pint" is divided into a huge number of samples and sent to the labs to test.

I donate twice a year - on a Monday morning - the centre is about 10 mins walk for New Street Station - they pay travel expenses and car park if you drive in.

I have donated this morning hence the post.

Please please, if anyone can support this and take part, it would be absolutely great.

It is for the benefit of every single one of us, after all !

Birmingham is a bit far for me... and I'm still making up the pint donated to NBTS last week. Willing but unable. Sorry!

I know, it's tricky. OTOH if they don't quality control the labs then who knows whether anyone's A1c tests are being done properly? LOL

Says she, still completely hacked off that the transfusion service refuse to let them use T1s for this purpose. It's utterly ridiculous and about halved their volunteer subjects. After taking several pintas from us for the purpose, without a single one of us having ill effects.
