A young man from Nelson who was given only 24 hours to live by the first doctors who saw him has defied the odds to earn his black belt in karate.

Daniel Younghusband, 26, was born with congenital dwarfism and poor vision in Zimbabwe in 1984. The doctors in the delivery room gave him only hours to live, but he has proven them wrong.

Amazing achievement despite the odds stacked against him 🙂
