I just read about the black fungus infection that is hitting diabetics in India.
Horrible.. I really feel for India right now

The normally rare infection has a 50% mortality rate, and is hitting recovering Covid-19 patients.

Sounds like it's something rare, but would be particularly troublesome for an undiagnosed diabetic who would be unable to deal with raised blood sugars via increasing their insulin basal or boluses.

But having been diagnosed on admission to hospital, you would expect them to be treated with insulin along with antifungal treatment. I expect you have to be seriously immunologically wrecked to get life threatening fungal infections, like AIDS patient used to get.
