Hi Everyone,
My husband was sent to hospital and diagnosed with Type 2 on Thursday. Due to COVID we have been left feeling pretty alone as he was sent home with a testing kit and some medication and that was it no pamphlets, no guides or anything so we are pretty much trying to learn as we go along. His Glucose has dropped to 13 and his Ketone is 3. Are there any books you can recommend we get?? They have also said that there is an issue with his pancreas (I know that it is diabetes related) but what could it be apart from worst case scenario that they have mentioned.
So sorry for the long post, hope everyone is having a lovely weekend
Karen

Hi @KazM . Welcome to the forum . To be honest I think you need to contact 111 as those ketones are a bit too high , plus high blood glucose.

What medications did they prescribe.

How is your husband feeling . If he is feeling unwell then go back to A&E

Has your husband been losing weight unexpectedly.
Sorry for all the questions

Hi LJC
Thank you for responding, his blood glucose was over 20 on Thursday and his Ketone was 4. We did get a call from a diabetic nurse yesterday who said if his Ketone goes over 3 to go back to hospital. He has been prescribed Gliclazide and Mettformin. Not sure if it is all related but he has had bouts of severe sickness over the past. few months, vomiting constantly for about 6-8 hours and then wiped out for a couple of days, tried to persuade him to go to the docs but as he felt well in between he said it was a bug. It is only because he has lost about 1.5 stone in 6 weeks that he went to the doctors where they then sent him straight to hospital

Hi @KazM I agree with @Ljc that you need to get some medical input. Don’t leave it till Monday. Give 111 a call now if you haven’t already.

Hi @KazM, sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. Keep us posted on how he is doing.

Welcome to the forum @KazM

Unintentional weight loss and high BGs with ketones must be very worrying for you. And may suggest that he is not T2, but has another type of diabetes.

How has your husband been over the weekend?
