Health chiefs in Birmingham have welcomed a ?78 million Government cash boost to tackle obesity, drug abuse and sexual health.
The money has been allocated to the city?s Public Health team which will be run by the council from April.
The funding will equates to ?72 per head ? increasing to ?73 in April 2014/15.
Birmingham?s Director of Public Health Dr Adrian Phillips welcomed the allocation.
He said: ?We do not underestimate the challenge in Birmingham.
?The hard work is already under way and we can now re-double our efforts without ongoing uncertainties over funding.
