I wonder where Trump's presidential library will be & what will be in it.

Hope he doesn't decide to burn down the White House rather than go gracefully.

Latest thing to obsess about: when does the GSA Administrator "ascertain" that Biden is the "apparent President-elect"?

This is a bureaucratic step, mandated by the Act of Congress specifying how transitions work, necessary to unlock federal transition funding and give Biden's team access to federal agencies. It has larger significance in that it's the first recognition by the federal government that Biden won.

Normally it's an automatic kind of thing, once the major networks have called the election based on counts reprted by states' seretaries of state etc. But tough call, when the president is going on about fraud and lawsuits.

Here's the non-partisan Center for Presidential Transition saying to get on with it: https://presidentialtransition.org/publications/message-from-the-center-advisory-board/

While there will be legal disputes requiring adjudication, the outcome is sufficiently clear that the transition process must now begin.

G.W. Bush congratulated Biden and said much the same thing; ditto, more-or-less, editorial in the(Murdoch) WSJ; ditto the rabid pro-Trump (Murdoch) New York Post.

With the WSJ's (excellent) news section detailing why Trump's legal avenues appear illusory
Etc etc etc. And the Biden campaign has been putting the pressure on the GSA Administrator, of course.
Meanwhile, large numbers of people are failing to treat the Trump campaign election fraud hotline with the gravity the situation deserves:
Anyway, : popcorn :

Trump's big problem is getting past local courts, which he legally must do before involving the supreme court. I can't see any local court passing anything on to the supreme court when there is a complete lack of evidence of significant voter fraud nationwide, or anywhere locally.

Furthermore, he is insulting states by accusing them of allowing voter fraud, which is no way to garner local court approval of his lawsuits. They will almost certainly find there is no case to answer.

The trouble is, he simply cannot accept that he has lost. It is not part of his deranged mindset. He daren't consider it because civilian life will see multiple lawsuits from the tax authorities, strings of women, and huge debt repayments. He won't be able to run again because he will be in jail, like as not, and the Trump brand will become completely toxic, so any of his dimwitted family won't be selected to run for the presidency either.

FWIW, the US Supreme Court is an appellate court. You only go there to appeal the decision of a lower court, so *not* getting past a state or federal court has to happen first. Then the SC has discretion on whether or not to hear an appeal.

Then the SC has discretion on whether or not to hear an appeal.

And people seem to think that they might hear if something's close, but these results don't seem nearly close enough so the Supremes are unlikely to want to go near it.
