What is the recommendation for drinking alcohol with type 2 managed by diet at the moment? I love a bicardi and Diet Coke

Hi Wendy, there aren't any strict guidelines, just a reiteration of the government guidelines in general. The issue to be mindful of is the impact drinking and medication may have on you personally which varies from person to person.

Hypos, additional carbs and neuropathy issues are all things to consider. Have a look at the info page for more details https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-t...t-to-drink-with-diabetes/alcohol-and-diabetes.

Bacardi and Diet Coke has no carbs so drink responsibly, I’m on my third gin and tonic right now and me BG didn’t move up or down for the last 3 hours hehe

Spirits and diet mixers tend to be pretty safe choices - but regular guidance about keeping consumption of alcohol to moderate levels still applies of course!

I am known as Rumncoke on folk forums - but it has to be dark rum.
If you are like me, though, you need to be very careful as alcohol sweeps me off my feet very quickly. I used to drive the band and equipment home, back in the 1970s and never drank back then - I used to warn the people at the bar that I would only drink cola, out of my own mug and that I was not to be served alcohol under any circumstances.
I used to be given a couple of bottles of rum every month - I used to strut around in platform boots and miniskirts with satin blouses in those days.

Hello @WendyB61 long see no time I don`t touch top shelf or wines just the occasional lager,😱
but memories tell me when I drank B&C stop drinking when the glass becomes broken and
your words sound like a new pop single. Be like me sensible (HIC) make sure you have sugar
free coke no problem, enjoy, don`t be put off everything in massive moderation when your legs
get wobbly and your speech slurs its that time of the night, won moor shplees.
