Good evening everyone,
I am still taking my BG levels and last night I had a particularly high reading (9) and this morning was 9.7.

They were back to normal by about 11am at 6 and this evening, 6.3.

I’m trying to think of what I’ve done differently, as my food was pretty standard yesterday. As was my activity. I’m coming up with what feel like silly potential reasons…we put the central heating back on yesterday…could it be that? I’ve not had as much water since being back at work, could it be that? (Although I would say I’ve had similar today and yesterday!)

Does anyone have any reasons why their BG goes unexpectedly high? I can’t work out the spike.

Thank you in advance

There are 42 known factors that can affect one's BG. Sometimes our BG spikes simply because it can. We light heartedly conclude you put the wrong coloured socks on. Diabetes is very fickle.

Plus a one-off event, like an elevated BG, is nigh on impossible to identify why. A reading of 9 is far from serious and truly not worth expending any energy on why. If such readings become part of a trend then that can be more interesting and relevant to try and find find out what /why.

Thank you! I will stop worrying about it now ☺️

Thank you. I’d always assumed that it was food that had the biggest effect on BG levels but exercise seems to be the thing that raises mine, even a normal walk. On one of the horrendously rainy days last week I sat and read a book for five hours, just getting up to stretch about every 30 minutes. At the end of this time (between lunch and dinner) my BG had gone from 6.9 to 4.6! Maybe I should just give up shopping and housework and become a lady of leisure!
