Was really trying not to worry too much whilst on holiday but thought I'd hop on here to see if this is normal. First off I have to admit I've been eating a bit more than normal and having a few drinks everyday (like 2 pints or few glasses of wine in total) I've been on the move a lot as well. I have tried to estimate how much insulin I need for each main meal and have only been snacking when sugars are low. Generally they have been great but last few days saw a couple of spikes to levels I haven't been to since being diagnosed a few months ago
Two days ago in the evening before I'd even had dinner my BG suddenly flew up to the 15s and didn't come back down for some time. I had a big lunch that day , no alcohol and had been walking around a lot . I was thinking okay this is a one off as everything calmed down yesterday but then this morning after a normal breakfast they want up to the 16s very quickly.
Are there long delays in levels rising sometimes ? I had a dessert with my dinner the night before for the first time in a while. I'm in the UK, so it's not particularly warm. I'm only at minute allowed to take pre meal corrections with my insulin. The clinic was supposed to call me before I went to discuss travel but they didn't. Sorry this is a bit of a ramble !
