I have always been ok with some fruit after lunch with a bit of low fat yoghurt.

I changed to greek style yoghurt which has the same low sugar content but double the fat, as I read on the low carb forums that weight reduction can be increased by low carb but more fat. This I tried and it seems to work, however my BGs have gone up too, only a point or two, but not what I want.

Would the extra fat cause a BG problem, everything else is the same, although I did have a chest infection but thats gone now.

Did your levels go up when you had the infection? If so, and levels are still a bit high then it's most likely the hanging on of the infection. I think that generally the low carb/higher fat approach to weight loss is intended to replace calories from carbs with calories from fat. Since fat has more calories you need proportionally less of it to maintain weight. Fat normally has the effect of delaying absorbtion of glucose from food, so you might normally expect levels to be steadier, and maybe lower at the 1 hour point than the lower fat food.

Might be worth a few more experiments before you can reach a conclusion - it's a complicated business! 🙂

It certainly is, a bit exasperating. Levels were up wth the chest thing but this seems a bit food related.

I did expect better readings due to the fat though:confused:

Sometimes you simply can't pinpoint a cause, but it's always worth having a think about things you don't expect 🙂
